How it works
- Travel by express boat to Rysjedalsvika quay. The express boat operates from Bergen, Selje and Sogn.
- Take the local bus to Leirvik. From Leirvik, transfer to a minibus that takes you to your accommodation. If you are staying at Hotel Sognefjord, simply get off the local bus in Leirvik.
- Discover Hyllestad using local transport. The bus takes you to Lihesten, the Millstone Park, Indrefjord Farm and the Day Trip Cabin throughout the weekend. See suggested itineraries further down.
- Travel as much as you like. Your bus ticket is valid all day, allowing you to hop on and off along the route. One ticket is required per day.

For many visitors, Lihesten is the highlight of the summer, and it is easy to understand why. This distinctive mountain towers above the landscape and has been a landmark and symbol of Hyllestad for generations. With its dramatic shape, spectacular views and legendary history, Lihesten is often described as majestic, mystical and challenging. Travel by public transport to Lihesten every Saturday from 3 July to 30 August
Every Saturday, buses run from Leirvik and Sørbøvåg to the parking area at Lekva, the starting point for the hike to Lihesten. Spend up to seven hours exploring this magnificent mountain massif that is guaranteed to take your breath away.
