If you continue biking toward Brurastakken, you’ll reach a mountain with a striking striped pattern in black, white, and green – like a skirt sewn by nature itself.

Brurastakken is not only beautiful – it’s also a geological treasure. Here you’ll find traces of three different mountain-building events, and a dedicated geological trail starts about 2 km from Herland. 8. Summit Hike with a View – Blåfjell, 533 m.a.s.l.

Looking for a mountain hike with panoramic views of fjords, peaks, and islands? Then Blåfjell, just north of Askvoll, is the perfect choice. At 533 metres above sea level, the mountain offers a moderately challenging route and a spectacular view as your reward at the top.

You can start the hike either from the centre of Askvoll or from the parking area at Askvoll Øvre. The first 800 metres follow the trail to Sandvika before the path branches off and takes you past the treeline after about 500 more metres. From there, you’ll enjoy open and beautiful mountain terrain all the way to the summit – an ideal destination if you’re looking for a short but memorable hiking experience.
