Avaldsnes Leikvoll is situated right next to the Nordvegen History Centre. The name ‘Leikvoll’ was chosen because, in Norse times, the word ‘leik’ encompassed play, sport and artistic activities. Here, you can let your creativity run free and give free rein to your imagination. The park features a total of 10 installations. All the installations are made from natural materials and feature an abstract design.
Nature is a key element of the park. That’s why flowers and raspberry bushes are left to grow freely in parts of the area. There are also a number of roots and tree stumps here, which provide a home for many fascinating insects.

Leikvoll is situated on the roof of the Nordvegen History Centre and close to the Viking Farm at Avaldsnes, which is also a lovely place for a walk. Both are well worth a visit for history enthusiasts or those out and about with children. A short drive from Avaldsnes, you’ll also find the Visnes Mining Museum, where the surrounding area is well suited to children, featuring a playground and a zip line, amongst other things.
