The trail is easy to follow, well-marked and offers both beautiful nature experiences and a humorous landmark that always makes people smile.

Start at Lunhulen

From the car park at Lunhulen, you will find a large information board and clear signposts. The walk starts on a gravel road along the railway line – follow this for about 400 metres before turning right and crossing the railway bridge. Once you are across, turn immediately right again and follow the road for about 300 metres back on the opposite side of the tracks. The signs for ‘Varberg’ will guide you easily onwards.

Red-marked trail into the terrain

Where the gravel road ends and the trail begins, red markings take over as a clear guide. The surface is mostly light and dry, but some small sections can be a little soft – waterproof shoes may therefore be a good idea on wet days.

Destination: Hellvik Geita

The climb comes early and provides just enough of an uphill slope for the little ones to feel like they have been on a proper mountain hike. Not long after, Hellvik Geita (the Hellvik Goat) appears – a distinctive rock that has been creatively decorated with a tail and horns. The result is a charming sight that makes the place a popular stop.

Right next to it, you will find a small viewpoint with a great view over Hellviksvatnet and out to the coastline. This is a nice place to sit down and take a break – the perfect reward after a short, manageable and enjoyable hike.
