Vitenfabrikken in Sandnes is an exciting science centre and museum for the whole family, where learning takes place through play, experiments and interactive experiences. Here, you can explore technology, mathematics, natural sciences and local history in a fun and engaging way.
The historical exhibitions introduce visitors to the industrial history of Sandnes and the Jæren region. Discover the town's long-standing traditions of producing pottery, bicycles and other industrial products, and visit the authentic Krossen oat mill from 1912, where the original machinery remains exactly as it was when production ended in 1988.
One of the highlights is the spectacular planetarium, suspended like a large sphere in the centre of the building. Here, visitors can embark on fascinating journeys through the night sky and the universe in one of Norway's most modern planetariums. Daily shows are presented for both children and adults.
At the Abelloftet exhibition, mathematics can be experienced in a completely new way. With more than 50 interactive installations, puzzles, mirror effects and kaleidoscopes, both children and adults are invited to explore mathematics through play and curiosity.
Vitenfabrikken is also home to the popular Øglænd exhibition, which tells the story of one of the region's most important industrial companies. Visitors can, among other things, try riding a Tempo moped through the streets of Sandnes and learn more about entrepreneurship, trade and innovation.
Many visitors also spend hours in the popular Lego room, which contains thousands of Lego and Duplo bricks in every imaginable shape and size.
When you need a break, you can visit Café Hjerneføde, which serves both hot and cold dishes.
During school holidays and weekends, an extended programme is offered, including additional shows, more planetarium screenings and creative activities in the workshop space.
