Welcome to Jærmuseet: A journey through the region's history

Explore Jærmuseet, the regional museum for Randaberg, Sola, Sandnes, Gjesdal, Klepp, Time and Hå. It is also the regional knowledge centre for Southwest Norway, with a mission to document and communicate the rich history of the region.

Experience interactive exhibitions and activities designed for all ages. From thrilling shows to a closer look at farm animals, from writing a poem to exploring how ordinary people - or the lighthouse keeper - lived at Jæren in times gone by. Experience the history, enjoy the views and find peace in the old farmyard grounds.

Award-winning cultural heritage and technological innovation

Jærmuseet is proud to have won the award for Museum of the Year in Norway, in addition to receiving the European Michelletti Award for best technological museum. This recognises their commitment to presenting cultural heritage in an inspiring way and exploring the boundaries of technology.

They are responsible for a total of 12 museums open to the public, each with its unique narrative and interactive experiences. Visitors can explore the diverse museum offerings and bring history to life through varied exhibitions.
