Perhaps you have driven past these, or seen a picture of these little two houses under Helleren in Jøssingfjord. If you drive along the North Sea Route, you can see them from the Rv 44 somewhere in between Egersund and Flekkefjord.

Blåfjell Mines

Blåfjell Mines

Blåfjell Mines were operated in the period from 1863 to 1876. Here titanium-containing iron ore was mined. The ore from the mine was shipped out into Rekefjord. In total, approximately 80,000 tonnes of ore were extracted from the mines.

Lund

Lund is known for majestic nature in all three villages; Moi, Heskjestad and Hovsherad. All the villages have good starting points for outstanding hikes with diverse cultural monuments. Sætra is a paradise for winter activities, with both toboggan run, light trail and groomed ski trails to Gauksomhytta and Sandstøl. A guided tour to old mining sites at Gursli and Liland will leave you impressed. How about a trip up Tronåsen? - spectacular! Lund folk museum and cultural bank attracts visitors with its famous tasting of apple varieties. Lundevannet has a leisure boat center, several piers and bathing places, there are also opportunities for renting kayaks, canoes and other equipment.

Gursli mines and Hattesteinan

Gursli mines and Hattesteinan

The mining road to the Gursli mines must have been a major struggle to the workers who were transporting ore during World War I. Considering the technical aids they had at the time, the word "exhaustion" comes to mind. Today it is a nice hike around Gullvann lake and towards the old mining site.
