Fosnavåg has plenty to offer: watch fishing boats and offshore vessels enter and leave the harbour, visit Herøy Kystmuseum (coastal museum) dating from the 1700s and 1800s, or see the street art mural by Simon Alfredo on the Sparebanken Møre building. Down by the quay you'll also find Horisont, a meeting place combining a restaurant, Galleri R/ART and maritime businesses under one roof.
A ten-minute boat ride from the guest harbour takes you to Kami Skotholmen, a seafood restaurant in an old boathouse with changing seasonal menus, while Fosnavåg Sauna by the Våje harbour offers sea views and a cooling dip in the ocean. Just outside town lies Kvalsvikryggen, a spectacular hike with views towards Runde, Skorpa, the Sunnmøre Alps and Svinøy lighthouse.
Herøy is also the gateway to the bird island of Runde, where puffins nest by the thousand and activities such as shore exploration and coasteering await year-round. At Runde Miljøsenter (visitor centre) you can also hear the story of Rundeskatten – one of Norway's largest treasure finds, recovered from a shipwreck off the island.
Accommodation in Herøy is just as varied as the experiences: a hotel in Fosnavåg, guesthouses, modern apartments with sea views, or a night at the protected Runde lighthouse. Coastal culture is still thriving here, with rich birdlife, dramatic nature, and a landscape where the sea is never far away.
