This is the road trip for travellers who want space, authenticity, and to explore Fjord Norway´s unknown destination.

This is a 3-5 day journey from the the coast in the west, to the glaciers in the east

  • Stage 1 is paddling experiences and mighty mountains in the spectaluar UNESCO Global Geopark

  • Stage 3 is a travel through mighty fjords, waterfalls and cultural landscapes
  • Stage 4 is glacier Adventures in Jostedalsbreen National Park

Good to know!

The journey takes place in areas where you will often depend on a car as your main means of transportation. It is possible to rent a car upon arrival in Rysjedalsvika and use it while travelling around Hyllestad.

When you go island hopping by the local post boat, you will need to travel by public transport. If you are travelling from Hyllestad on the same day as your island-hopping experience, you must take the ferry departing at 09:05 from Rysjedalsvika, and then continue by local bus from Krakhella to Hardbakke.

The journey from Hardbakke to Askvoll is completed using local transport and cycling.

From Askvoll onwards, you will need a rental car in order to travel through the remaining stages. You may choose to take the express boat from Askvoll back to Rysjedalsvika to pick up your rental car before continuing to the next stage.

Stay at Sognhostel, or explore other accommodation options nearby.

This is how you travel by boat and ferry in the region

Stage 1. From the wild ocean in the west

How to get to Sognhostel

You can either arrange a rental car, take a taxi, or ask your local host for the smoothest way to reach the hostel.

Once you are settled, explore some of Hyllestad´s iconic landscapes by renting a bicycle from Sognhostel. Hike the mighty Lihesten, or choose one of the smaller peaks such as Hesjetinden or Sørefjordhytta.
