Stage 3: A travel through mighty fjords, waterfalls and cultural landscapes
The next morning, we recommend having a rental car as you continue inland from Askvoll towards beautiful fjords and powerful waterfalls.
At Dalsfjorden, hike to the hidden gem known as Fossedalen, where you can even swim beneath the waterfall. The views along the way are truly magical.
Continue driving to Hellevik, where Leonards Forlaavelse awaits. This high-quality, small-scale dining experience offers an intimate and authentic atmosphere, and you’ll also find a cheese shop open 24/7.
After your meal, drive onwards to the Gaularfjellet National Tourist Route. Feel the energy of the roaring Likholefossen waterfall, walk along scenic trails, and stop at the viewpoint known as “Utsikten” before heading towards the glacier village of Jølster.
Here, visit Astruptunet, the home of artist Nikolai Astrup, one of Norway’s most celebrated painters. In Jølster, you’ll experience the landscapes that inspired his iconic works.
Spend the night surrounded by majestic mountains and a long, tranquil lake. You’ll find several accommodation options in Jølster.
