Explore the wild, beautiful, and authentic Sunnhordland – without the crowds

Along the majestic Åkrafjord, steep mountains rise like natural monuments, and waterfalls cascade down the cliffs. The most famous is Langfoss, plunging 612 meters from the mountainside straight into the fjord – a truly awe-inspiring sight, especially in autumn.

Here you’ll also find one of the region’s most remarkable geological wonders – the glacial potholes at Rullestad, shaped by melting ice and water during the last Ice Age. These are part of the Sunnhordland UNESCO Global Geopark, which features a range of natural and cultural heritage sites. Join a guided tour with Åkrafjorden Oppleving for an active experience filled with stories carved into stone, water, and trail – told by locals who know the land by heart.

Autumn at Folgefonna – paddle in silence, hike through time

If you want to go higher – and journey far back in time – join Folgefonni Breførarlag for unforgettable glacier and mountain experiences. One of the most atmospheric adventures is kayaking on lake Møsevatnet – a peaceful, guided trip in breathtaking surroundings, where glacier, mountains, and silence are your companions. As the summer loosens the grip of the ice, this tranquil lake opens to visitors seeking a new perspective on the landscape. Here, you’ll come up close to Folgefonna and the spectacular Folgefonna National Park.
