Hareid is located in southern Sunnmøre, a short trip from Ålesund and close to Runde and the Sunnmøre Alps. Here you'll find mountain hikes, coastal paths and the open sea.Hareid lies at the outer edge of Hareidlandet, where fjord, mountain and sea come together in one place. Start the day with views from Melshornet (668 metres above sea level), then head down to the sea. At Overåsanden you'll find one of the finest beaches in the area, right next to the national monument commemorating the Battle of Hjørungavåg. In the coastal village of Brandal, discover rich polar history at the Aarvak Ice-Sea Museum, or join the historic ship Polarstar, built in 1948, for a trip across the fjord and into Hjørundfjorden. The landscape is open and accessible, leaving room for both short walks and longer adventures. Hareid, the municipal centre, is a natural transport hub in southern Sunnmøre. The ferry to Sulesund takes about 23 minutes and runs frequently, the express boat takes you straight to central Ålesund, and the Eiksund Connection links the town to Ørsta and Volda without a ferry crossing. The surrounding islands are also close by. This makes Hareid a great base for exploring the whole region – from the bird island of Runde to the dramatic peaks of the Sunnmøre Alps. Hareid also has an active local community, with events, sports and culture throughout the year. In the town centre you'll find several cosy cafés, including Millennium and Mjøl og Meir. The latter also serves delicious coffee from the Jacu coffee roastery. These are great stops for a bite to eat before continuing your journey of discovery. Coastal culture lives on here, close to the sea and the people who make their living from it. It's a place where you easily get close – to both nature and everyday life.

The romantic village of Rosendal is situated on the Hardangerfjord in Kvinnherad municipality, Sunnhordland. Rosendal is home to Scandinavia's smallest castle: Baroniet Rosendal manorhouse and gardens.

The Hjørundfjord cuts 35 km inland between the jagged Sunnmøre Alps. Small idyllic villages lie dotted along the fjord waiting to welcome you.

Røvær is a group of islands 25 minutes by boat from the centre of Haugesund. The island has no cars and a population of around 80.

Svanøy, the southernmost and most lush island in Kinn municipality, offers a unique blend of nature, tranquillity, and a rich history with deep roots.

The beaches at Jæren (Jærstrendene) are prominent landmarks and popular recreational areas. They are ideal for hiking all year round, and in summer, the beaches are popular for all sorts of water activities such as SUP, surfing, kiting or swimming.

The 1,700 islands, islets and skerries that make up the Solund archipelago out in the west at the ocean’s edge are a popular destination for everyone looking for exciting experiences in nature.

In Loen in Nordfjord you will find a spectacular gondola, majestic mountains, glaciers, Via Ferrata, zipline and turquoise glacial lakes. With short distances between fjord, valley and mountaintop, Loen is a destination that makes it hard not to come back.

Drive the new Nordøyvegen road and explore the string of islands outside Ålesund and Brattvåg. You can also take a ferry and experience the fishing village Ona.

Årdal is located along the Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke in Hjelmeland municipality. The old Årdal church and the Fairytale Forest are popular attractions in the village.

Sand in Suldal, beautifully situated on the Sandsfjord, has preserved much of its historic character, with clusters of charming, white wooden houses. The Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke passes through Sand.

Swords in rock is a monument to commemorate the battle in Hafrsfjord. The memorial is on a small rock side in the area where perhaps the battle took place. Nobody knows for sure, but the fjord is the widest here and the Vikings most likely docked their boats here when they were fighting.

At the end of the Høgsfjord lies the valley Dirdal, which stretches upwards towards Gilja and further towards Byrkjedal. The name Dirdal comes from old Norse 'Digradal', and means 'the big valley'.

Welcome to Undredal - in the middle of the world heritage. Undredal is a small fjord village between Flåm and Gudvangen, a car ride only 10 minutes from Flåm.

Lysebotn is idyllically located at the end of Lysefjorden in Ryfylke. The trail to Kjerag is close by. Here you can have an active holiday both in the mountains and at the fjord.

The Jøssingfjord in Sokndal, surrounded by Magma UNESCO Global Geopark land, is mostly known for the two small houses from the 1800s which are protected by a natural mountain shelter.

Tau is a village in Strand municipality in Ryfylke, and has a hotel, petrol station, shops, R13 center, restaurant, cafes and a large marina.

The trading station at Årbakka, a classic example of a Western Norwegian trading station from 1898, has a sheltered location on the Onarheimsfjord.

The Ryfylke Islands are a combination of several islands in Ryfylke, with close to 3 100 habitants. There are in total 16 habited islands, with both bridges, ferries and boats connecting them.

The old trading post of Brandasund is in Gisøya in Bømlo municipality, at the outer edge of the archipelago, between Bergen and Haugesund.

Many people know the beautiful village of Skånevik as the Blues Village – or the pearl of Sunnhordland.

Midway in Lysefjorden in Ryfylke lies Flørli. The small, roadless village is popular for its stairs of 4,444 steps up the mountain, the longest wooden stairway in the world.

Jelsa in Suldal is the best-preserved fjordside village in Ryfylke. There has been a church here since the 13th century and commercial activity since the 17th century.

Hå municipality offers high skies, beautiful beaches, vibrant agriculture, exciting museums and several cultural treasures.

Eikesdalen is a valley in Molde that is considered one of the most magnificent valleys in Romsdal. Here you will find, among other things, Mardalsfossen, Eikesdalsvatnet and the starting point for the spectacular Aursjøvegen.

Welcome to Balestrand, an idyllic art village by the main Sognefjord with its narrow fjord branches and scenic and lush mountain landscape. Here you will find high mountains, deep fjords and peace and quiet.

Fjærland is the area surrounding a branch of the Sognefjord, close to the Jostedalsbreen - the largest glacier on mainland Europe.

Welcome to the unique archipelago located between the North Sea and the fjord-rich inner Ryfylke! This location provides great range and variety in nature and landscape. Here it is green and lush almost all year round, with nice and easy walks and good bathing places.

Nesflaten is a village in Suldal municipality in Ryfylke. It is situated on the northern shore of Suldalsvatnet lake. The Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke, Rv. 13, passes through the village.

As part of the establishment of the Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke, renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor designed new facilities at Allmannajuvet gorge in Sauda in Ryfylke.

At the village centre, Aurlandsvangen, is located an eco-bakery, two restaurants and multiple possibilites for accommodation. This is also where where the National Tourist Route, Aurlandsfjellet starts.

Bondhusvatnet lake is in Sundal in Kvinnherad municipality, and is a stunningly beautiful and popular hiking destination. The trail, the lake and the surroundings make for a superb and unforgettable experience of the natural environment.

At the water’s edge here are many of the region’s amenities, in a charming and vibrant hub where you might find more than you think you will!

Leikanger town snuggles tightly on the Sognefjord shores. The town has around 2200 inhabitans and it´s closest neighbours are Balestrand (West) and Sogndal (East).

Ryvarden lighthouse is situated in Sveio municipality, 25 minutes by car from Haugesund and 40 minutes from Stord. The lighthouse itself is a half-hour walk from the car park, on a headland facing the piece of water known as Sletta in the North Sea.

Sola is located near the ocean and it's home to the international airport, as well as one of the most historic fjords in the region, namely the Hafrsfjord. Discover the swords in rock - a large stone monument commemorating the large Viking battle that once took place here led by Viking king Harald Fairhair.

Hjelmelandsvågen is located along the Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke in Hjelmeland municipality. You can visit the worlds largest traditional chair, the spinning mill and fruit farms producing apple cider.

Åkrasanden is an area of beaches on the west coast of Karmøy, just off Haugesund. It has been voted the most beautiful beach in Norway several times.

Songesand is a small village by Lysefjorden, not far from Preikestolen and Kjerag in Ryfylke.

The town of Flåm is small, but full of great adventure and fun. The town is a travel hub for the Sognefjord and Norway in a nutshell, connecting Flåmsbana Railway to the UNESCO world heritage Nærøyfjord.

Island life can be great both summer and winter! A visit to this idyllic island out in the open sea gives you a feeling of tranquillity and closeness to nature. Just a short ferry ride away from Stavanger (Mekjarvik), and suddenly you are in Norway's smallest municipality, Kvitsøy.

The small village of Forsand in Sandnes municipality is located at the crossing point between the Lysefjord and the Høgsfjord i Ryfylke.

Hafslo is a small village in Luster Municipality, located approximately 17 kilometers from Sogndal. Hafslo is a good starting point for powerful nature experiences with the Jostedalsbreen and the Sognefjord as its nearest neighbours.

Far out in the ocean gap, you can find the green, and grass covered island Kinn, and its church and characteristic mountain site Kinnaklova.

The village of Uskedalen is between Rosendal and Husnes in Kvinnherad municipality in Vestland county.

Espevær is an outstanding little island community in the sea west of Bømlo. The houses on this car-free island are on the lee side, down by the water’s edge, sheltered from wind and sea spray.

During the summer, tourists from all around the world visit Sogndal and they are fascinated by the contrasts the region offers.

About 60 km southeast of Stavanger, where county road FV45 meets Gloppedalsveien and Maudalsveien, you will find one of the county's most popular crossroads.

Jostedal is a tiny village by the Jostedalsbreen Glacier, with a hotel, a campsite and with a large menu of activities.
